Doug duncan leaders

PURPOSE OF AWARD:  To honour a practicing technology professional who is progressing in their career and service to the profession and community and assist them as they seek to develop additional skills. 


AWARD CRITERIA:  The following criteria will be used by the TPBCA Awards Committee:

  1. a registered technology professional 
  2. a solid foundation in their career, with more than 10 years experience
  3. demonstrated technical and leadership skills commensurate for a technology professional in their early to mid career years
  4. contribution to the profession by serving on a professional board or committee, assisting in the development of technical or regulatory standards, supporting STEM career awareness or similar experiences
  5. support of three references confirming professional, career and service contributions 


AWARD APPLICATION:  An application is submitted by a registered professional or another person able to vouch for the applicant. The application to include:

  1. a written statement of no more than 500 words outlining the rationale for the award application
  2. three references confirming the contributions made by the applicant 
  3. a video of no more than 120 seconds presented by the applicant that addresses their professional, career and service contributions  


AWARD RECOGNITION:  The recipient will receive a suitable trophy plus special education or training or other supports that will help advance their professional growth and development or leadership skills in service to the profession or technology community. The form of the recognition will be determined by the TPBCA Awards Committee. 


AWARD PROMOTION:  TPBCA will promote the award through several channels including a post to the TPBC web site, a notice in the TPBCA news, an advisory to significant organizations, and a media release. The recipient is encouraged to advise others of the award presentation and in so doing may wish to consult with TPBCA. 


AWARD FUNDING:  The funding of the award will be provided by donors who will contribute to the Doug Duncan Leaders Award Fund that will be held in trust for the specific purpose of providing the annual funding for the award. TPBCA will contribute annually to the Fund until such time as the Fund is fully sustainable.    


AWARD PRESENTATION:  The Doug Duncan Leaders Award will be presented at the TPBCA Annual General Meeting or at another time as determined by the Awards Committee.
