Technology Talent in BC
TechTalentBC is being launched during National Engineering and Applied Science Technology (NEAT) Week, November 24 - 28, 2025.
On Day 3 of NEAT we focus on technology talent.
TechTalentBC will be the platform on which TPBC will focus on education and careers in engineering and applied science technology.
TPBC will look at tech enrollments across BC, the contribution to the economy of engineering and applied science technologists, technicians and technical specialists, the supply and demand of these professionals, and efforts to generally enhance awareness of education and career opportunities.
Did you know that TPBC estimates that engineering technologists, technicians and technical specialists contribute an estimated $12Billion - yes that is a 'B' - to the current BC economy. Also, in 2016 the Conference Board of Canada (CBoC) was commissioned by ASTTBC and other provincial associations to prepare a report in which it was noted that there were 400,000 engineering technicians and technologists in Canada who contributed $54.7 Billion to the Canadian economy, representing 3.3% of Canadian GDP. There is an urgent need to update the data.
TPBC asked for, and the CBoC has provided TPBC with a proposal and costing to update the national numbers and drill down on the BC situation. The project cost is beyond our means. TPBC is sourcing the funds needed to complete this important task.

A new 'blue chip' group of leaders from business, NGOs, and education is being developed to advise our association on technology education and careers. This body will help advocate on matters of interest to our educational system, employers and our economy in general.
Watch for an announcement in 2025.
