Technology Professionals BC Association (TPBCA) advocates for technology professionals in the fields of engineering and applied science technology. Our individual members may be regulated by the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC or other professional regulatory bodies or are not affiliated with any regulatory or organized group.
Membership is also open to businesses, employers, NGOs, educational institutions, and other organizations that have an interest in supporting TPBCA and its purpose.
TPBCA advocates for technology professionals in their professional and career interests in a number of ways, including:
- providing access to continuing professional development;
- promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers, particularly with students in Grades 4-12, and their teachers and parents;
- assisting internationally educated technology professionals get recognized and grow in their careers;
- supporting diversity, equity and inclusion;
- working with Indigenous Peoples as they learn about and pursue a STEM career;
- advocating for public health, safety and the environment in fields in which Technology Professionals practice including providing information an appropriate scopes of practice and reserved practice that best serves the public interest;
- engaging with educational institutions and their students as they offer education leading to rewarding technology careers and professional registration;
- working to ensure a sufficient supply of Technology Professionals to meet the needs of the BC economy;
- supporting the ASTTBC Foundation and other similar agencies in providing bursaries to aid youth as they embrace a STEM career; and,
- recognizing Technology Professionals through a Technology Awards program.
