We are pleased to report that the BC Common Ground Alliance (BCCGA) has joined others in concluding a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with TPBC. BCCGA Executive Director, Dr Dave Basplay, said on reaching the agreement, “We are pleased to join with TPBC in aligning resources in support of greater awareness of, and best practices for, underground construction and maintenance. Its a great fit and we look forward to many years of collaboration”.
“The BCCGA provides a valuable service to the BC community, one that aligns very nicely with the broad goals of TPBC. Hence a MoA is a natural first step in making a public commitment to work collaboratively to address areas of common interest”, enthused TPBC CEO John Leech.
The MoA acknowledges areas of common interest:enhance awareness of underground infrastructure construction and maintenance:
- enhance education and career opportunities in their respective areas of interest;
- support and assist their members develop and maintain high professional standards as their members provide services to their employer or clients;
- provide benefits such as continuing professional development to its members to assist them in their professional practice; and,
- inform key stakeholders such as governments, employers, trade and technical associations and the public on the design, construction and maintenance of underground infrastructure
The MoA spells out a number of areas for cooperation: promoting education and careers and professional development; sharing information and developing programs and services of mutual interest; supporting each others’ special events such as the AGM and awards events; and, liaising on matters affecting services by its members, to the benefit of members and the public.
