DECEMBER 2025 UPDATE

An Update on Recent and Planned Activities

December 2025

We have had a fairly busy couple of months since the last issue of our newsletter, ConneXion, including TPBC’s work to elevate the profile of TPBC members and engage with governments. The next issue of ConneXion will be issued in January, with this high level update providing a quick look at topics we will cover in that issue.

Checking in at 30 Months

The first 30 months have been very active for TPBC… we hope you have reviewed the fairly brief report, posted to the TPBC website under News BYTES. …

Letter to Premier David Eby and Minister of Jobs, Ravi Kahlon

In response to BC Government’s Look West plan, TPBC sent a letter to the Premier and Minister. TPBC noted the need to elevate the profile of engineering and applied science technology education and careers.

Home Inspection – An Improved Regulatory System is Needed

The Office of Professional Governance issued a report in 2022 recommending that home inspection registration should move FROM Consumer Protection BC and TO ASTTBC, at least as an interim step (not sure what that means). TPBC is following up on this recommendation.

Building Design

An area of practice that has been discussed, debated and not resolved… for decades! TPBC has decided to weigh in and is working with the BC Association of Building Designers to ask Government that this issue be resolved.

National Engineering and Applied Science Technology Week (NEAT)

TPBC joined with other provincial associations to promote the education and careers of engineering and applied science technologists, technicians on technical specialists. One key bit of information was released every day. Check it out on our web site, again under News BYTES.

Letter to PM Carney & Minister of Finance

The PM made mention of ‘engineers and technicians’ in a speech this Fall. The Budget speech made the same reference. TPBC wrote to the PM and Minister to express our appreciation for acknowledging the important role of these practitioners and to encourage further efforts to elevate the profile of tech careers.

Award Nominations

2 new awards have been approved and will be added to the TPBC web site. We encourage you to check out the TPBC web site early in 2026 and consider making a nomination. See info under ABOUT on our website.

TechTalentBC

A NEW initiative in which TPBC will define our work to enhance the profile of tech education and careers. Watch for postings in the new year.

TEChub – Blue Chip Group Assists with Advocacy

A NEW group has been launched to assist TPBC advocate for tech education and careers. MORE with the next issue of ConneXion.

New Corporate ID Supplies

TPBC is adding to its array of corporate ID and give-away supplies, including additional roll-up banners focusing on Indigenous Peoples, Women in Technology and people with disabilities. Other materials such as BB Forks and aprons will be used for prizes for various campaigns such as recruitment will help build our corporate presence at meetings, trade shows, award and other presentations.

Best wishes for 2026!

As we approach the end of 2025 the Board and staff wish you the very best for 2026. We are confident that TPBC’s foundation built over the first 30 months will continue to expand as we roll into the new year.
