Build Better BC – Statement #5

We Choose Canada
Prime Minister Carney Up & Close

BUILD BETTER BC (BBBC) is an initiative of Technology Professions BC Association (TPBC), the advocacy voice for engineering and applied science technology. OUR PURPOSE with BBBC is to help find solutions to current issues within TPBC’s mandate. As we launch into BBC#5 we stress that TPBC and this message is strictly ‘apolitical’. There is no intent to suggest a political leaning or preference.

Prime Minister Carney talks about our need to work together as Canadians to build a ONE CANADA economy, and in doing so to be BOLD in our contributions. We agree and believe this message follows that advice.

Mark Carney wrote the book ‘Value(s)’ in 2021, a great resource as one seeks information as to where the PM is going… and how he proposes getting there. Reading his book is a sure-fire way to come to better know Mark Carney, especially as be carries out his role as PM. Find out what makes him tick… what he is thinking about the Canadian and global economies, environmental crisis, building and working as a team, relations with Indigenous Peoples, within Canada generally and with other countries, and much more.

Throughout his book Mr Carney stresses the importance of purpose and core values for individuals, companies and countries. Solidarity, fairness, responsibility, resilience, sustainability, dynamism and humility are the core values emphasized in his book.

“Mr Carney ‘hooked me’ with the Introduction,” said John Leech, TPBC CEO. “You’ll see in the photo that my copy of the book has many sticky notes, all of which signal a key point Mr Carney makes on one topic or another. I know a lot more about the PM and where he sees Canada and we Canadians going in the future.”
