TPBC is an apolitical organization and does not endorse parties or candidates. TPBC will report on members who are engaging in an activity tied to leadership in areas that are part of an election process and that are generally linked to TPBC areas of interest.
TPBC’s ‘Dr Steve’ is running for the Vancouver School Board. Steve is Chief Technology Education Officer at TPBC, contributing to TPBC’s work in promoting and enhancing technology education and careers, with an emphasis on K-12 and the transition to post-secondary education. Steve also serves as a Director on the TEChub Board, a group of education and industry leaders supporting and assisting TPBC.
Steve is a former Superintendent of Schools for both Delta and Vancouver School Boards. Upon ‘retirement’ he assumed the position of Associate Vice President, Academic and then Vice President, Students at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
Steve began his career teaching senior high school science and biology. He served as Professor of Teaching in the Department of Educational Administration and Leadership at UBC. He holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership (SFU) and an MA and BSc from UBC.
Steve has been a leader throughout his career including serving as President of the BC School Superintendents’ Association (BCSSA). He served as a Director on the Science World Board, a member of the BC Technology Education Careers Council, the Canadian Education Association Council and Editorial Board, and as a trustee on the Board for Learning Forward. Steve recently completed his term as a Board Governor at Vancouver Community College.
