About the Logo

LOGO DESIGN

The design elements for the logo were contributed by youth attending the 2025 Gather Our Voices conference convened in Kamloops in March 2025.

Dawn McGrath hosted a TPBC workshop on STEM education and careers and on the role of TPBC as the organization builds programming to engage with Indigenous Peoples.

The logo was designed by Dawn McGrath, a member of the TPBC Board of Directors and lead for Indigenous Relations, with finishing touches completed by Richard Mayer, TPBC Manager, Marketing & Communications.

Thanks to all for this community effort.

Logo Design Concept

  • Circular Composition: The circle represents wholeness, cyclical time and interconnection, ideal for an evolution-themed design.
  • Grizzly Bear (North): Represents strength, introspection and leadership—key traits for future STEM leaders.
  • Porcupine (West): Symbol of innocence, curiosity and gentle resilience—mirroring youth’s learning and exploration.
  • Salmon (South): Embodies determination, wisdom and sacrifice—reflecting Indigenous teachings and the scientific journey.
  • Eagle (East): Stands for vision, spiritual insight and higher learning—representing innovation and STEM elevation.
  •  STEM Motif: Integrate subtle elements like a DNA helix, circuit lines or planetary orbits, interwoven around or within the circle.
  • Color Palette: Earth tones with vibrant highlights (deep green, river blue, copper, sky gold) for a grounded yet energetic feel.
